London Guitar Town Gibson Project
The Sculpture, 'The Tree of Knowledge", was visually created in three days. But in my mind it has taken over 13 years of listening to the radio in my bedroom. I grew up listening to his songs as the background tracks to my teenage years - Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics. In retrospect this piece is as much about Mike Rutherford as it is about me and that is why I think it works! Nathlyn Baptiste's is one of the founding artists to be apart of the Gibson Guitar Town London, project. Her art forms an integral part of sustaining her memories, thoughts, and consciousness that reflect through the environment as a structural base for her work. Though, any other artists do not directly influence her work , the collectors that stemmed from the recent Solo Show ,"That which is now revealed was once hidden," were enthralled by her depictions of canvas and board-based installations. Baptiste amazed critiques and art reviews by the Evening Standard and Creative Week, with images of intense colour, acute angles and layers of transparent spaces. A consistent testament to the appeal of her work. (www.nathlynbaptiste.com)
